Are any of the threads or journals from here be ported over to the new forum before this one gets shut down?

At the current moment we didn't want to disable the forvm as we value each member that still contributes to it each and every day. At the same time though it was a thought we had but, weren't sure how current forvm members would think of it. What's your opinion on it?

It was the old school ads that got me here, and it was the community that kept me here. There’s a small core group here. We all still keep Journeys and support one another. There are other members who drop in from time to time just to check in or because they know this is where to go for advice or information. I think if you closed down this FORVM we would all just drift away. There is no one and nothing at the new FORVM. It was announced on Facebook and everyone was all about it, but absolutely no one has gone and posted there. There is no community. Maybe get the sponsored guys back on and people will show up? This FORVM has a cool look and feel while the new is a white wasteland. I guess I’d rather this place got promoted or updated, but not update the shit out of it. Some new features maybe? Either that, or you need to do something to create a new community over there.

If the plan is to just dump all this data stored here and start anew, I am against it. There is a lot of valuable information here, even if you have to dig for it. Plus my journey.

If y'all just want a fresh look for this FORVM, perhaps; however, there is nothing wrong with this forum. Y'all chose to abandon it due to social media popularity previously, which is now dwindling as I said it would. Fads like social media come and go, the FORVM is here for eternity and should STAY. Even Facebook had to change their dumbass name because so many people are bored of it and abandoning it. Simply changing your name and giving something a fresh look never revitalizes anything. If y'all want the FORVM to return to it's glory days, time to start pushing everyone back here and that should start with having the sponsored guys come back.

Y'all could even have a separate area where everything is archived and all the current sections can be wiped clean and can be started fresh! BUT make sure the archived area is readily available and easily accessible so guys can always look back at old threads. That will take some effort to make sure all of the threads are organized but IMO would be worth it.

*If y'all are worried because popularity plummeted previously it is for two reasons: One, most of the young jackasses that were on here were simply caught up in the RAW Powerlifting wave and tried to flex their nuts online. A lot of keyboard warriors really. Two, the sponsored guys bounced. Rex hung on for quite a while and that was so much fun! Just having him alone on here still brought people to the forum. He also mentioned that there is much less bullshit on forums and that is why he enjoys them.

**IMO, I'd consider hiring separate PR/advertising types that can handle the social media advertising. Social media is it's own animal and requires specialists that know what they're doing in that regard. That's not really something that is well handled from the grass roots. No one following Pro BBers or Powerlifters want to see constant advertising from them. It's annoying as shit and it's the reason I don't really follow many animal athletes outside of Dan Green or hell any in general. Dan's lifting vids he posts sells itself, not to mention him hosting one of the most famous Powerlfting meets on Earth and having a top notch hardcore gym. He wears Animal stuff and always has Animal banners showing in his lifting videos. It's subtle and watching a guy Pull 900 pounds for Reps with an Animal logo behind him speaks more words than constant social media advertising ever could.

I could post much more, but figured this is enough to at least give some perspective from a long time fan of Animal. Like G always said, keep it real and keep it simple. Forums do just that and cut through most of the bullshit. Trends come and go, the FORVM is eternal!

My big problem with social media is you can’t follow something. Sure you get direct access to pros, but if someone asks a question you would be interested in you probably wouldn’t know about it. Who scrolls through 100’s of comments on each post everyday? This is why forums are better. If someone asks a question on a forum you have direct access to it weeks, months and years later.

For the record, I only follow Dan Green and Grant Higa on IG.

Everything that was once great about Animal will die if this FORVM is shut down. Picking up a few new customers that won't be repeat customers while running off long time loyal customers is a piss poor business model.

*From what I understand, Jim Wendler has a forum and evidently it's thriving and popular.
