Today I did things a little different. It was my first day training with my new set of kilo plates so I wasn't always sure what I was lifting lol, but wow does the exceptional machining make a huge difference. These things do not chatter or rattle at all. Training felt great.
Paused Bench
155x6
276x3
342x3
408x3
452x3
486x3 ... PR triple here
502x2 ... PR double here
502x2 ... hit it again easily
Flat DB Bench
145s x 14
165s x 8
175s x 3
145s x 14
hadn't hit the 175s before... had a crazy chest and arm pump at this point!
Looking forward to the next heavy day for sure
Very cool, saw picture of the set you guys got. You'll have to let us know how they feel on squat/deadlift too :)
yeah it immediately felt good and strong and can work the tris much harder than on a flat bench it felt like. ALmost like doing a heavy pressdown. But felt no pain in the elbows!
Awesome I could use the added tricep work there mine are lagging behind thanks Dan!!
Get your shit in order, and get your training in order. Start kicking ass, and take out the crap that doesn't matter. Start doing and believing in the stuff that works, and do it today and forever. You want science and studies? Fuck you, I've got scars and blood and vomit.
This is a call to arms for some of you. It is for me too. Stop all the things that make you a pussy and steal your energy. Get your life back.

Feels awesome to train with them. The balance is always perfect... no 49 lb 45 plates... plus there's absolutely no chatter of the weights. Much better quality of training

Felt like a pretty solid workout... still making some gains on the buffalo bar after 7 weeks with it... maybe one more week before a strict peaking phase...

For the last Bench Day I just wanted to work up to a heavy double and then a near-max single. For this day I had my training partner calling the press commands -- slowly -- so I'll be confident in a meet setting.
Paused Bench
470x1
507x2 (this was a PR and wasn't that hard even with extended pauses)
530x1 (also a PR by 7 lbs)
Reps with a Wide Grip
430x6
Close Grip
386x10
331x15
So the idea here was that I hit 530 while (1) highly fatigued from a high frequency of bench training (3x per week) and (2) did it with long pauses and (3) hit it after a heavy paused double. Next week when I go to the meet I'll basically have had a week's rest to heal up and get my strength up, will have at worst the same pause but likely a shorter pause, and I will take this after a single not a hard double... so I should be good for 5-10 more pounds...

Your bench has come up a lot man, crazy how you just keep getting stronger. Inspiring man.

Not that crazy... If getting stronger sounds crazy then who would want to train!!?!? The idea is that you must have a plan that allows you to succeed by being dilligent and consistent. I'll have 20-30 training sessions with the simple goal of gaining 5-10 pounds on my bench. It's a lot of work, but with a plan it's not that crazy. What's crazy is having no plan and just hoping to get stronger
