Worked a lot on turtle, both from top and bottom. It was fun and a real learning experience for me, I struggle when a big guy turtles up on me. Then a couple of rolls. Everything is feeling pretty good. I'm super stoked for my tournament June 1st.

Great open mat this morning. I had a couple of good rolls with a purple belt and a brown belt. Then I ended up spending the rest of the time drilling with a blue belt there. It was a great experience, I feel like I really learned some stuff today.

Great open mat session, lots of solid rolls. I really enjoyed getting to roll with some old friends that I haven't rolled with in awhile and with my new friends also. It was really cool that they let me join them at there academy tonight, I wanted to get some extra rolls in before the tournament.

Another good open mat. I’ve rolled a lot over the last four days and it’s catching up with me. I’ll drill Wednesday but I’m pretty much resting up from here on till the tourney. I’ve got some nasty cauliflower ear going on in my right ear. I’ve drained it several times over the last two weeks, but hopefully taking it easy this week let’s it heal up some.

Proving Grounds BJJ Tournament, Auburn Wa
I competed in the 195 masters class again. It was a tough day for me. I ended up with two draws and a loss, 4th place. The two draws were very tough matches and I just gassed out by the time I got to my third match. This was a big eye opener for me. I really need to improve my cardio and conditioning. Still had a great time and am looking forward to my next tourney July 20th.
The Viking press is the same set up I used before since I don't have one. It seems to work ok. For the rear lateral raises I originally tried to use the reverse fly machine and then lying with dumbbells but both aggravated my lat I strained at the tournament last weekend. Oddly enough the cable version caused only minimal discomfort. I think its because of the bent over position I was in verses the other two. Either way it worked.
I don't have a bar set up for the kb tosses yet. The contest will be a keg toss over a 14' bar. The 9 and 18lb bells I can toss plenty high, the 35 I can only get maybe 10' in the air. Next weekend I should have a bar set up and an actual keg to toss. I'm sure that will be a lot different.
