What was the most brutal workout you've ever put yourself through?
If you've done this shit for a while you know what I'm talking about. The kind of workout that pushes you straight to the edge! The one workout that made you ask yourself when you came to,"What the fuck was I thinking"?
There are probably going to be some anecdotes about Smolov or 20 rep squats, but I'll throw a bench story to mix things up:
I could never get very much out of using boards as a main movement.
About a year ago I was introduced to the horrors of high-rep board work.
Doing 4x15 after the main work is torture enough.
Combining boards with Fat Gripz, in particular the 1.75" version, is just masochistic. I suppose you could add bands as well if you really wanted to hate life.

FAT GRIPZ ... really? GOONER You are one Crazed Fuck! I love to hear that shit...maybe add the bands next time? LOL!
A lot of Neil Hill's workouts I use to do were pretty rough. I don't remember all of them but I remember one leg day workout was as follow:
Squats- 3 x triple drop sets aimed around 10-12 reps per drop
Leg Press- 3 x 85 (rest pause)
SUPERSET: 3 sets
Leg Extensions - triple drop set
Sissy Squats - 15
Lying Hamstring curls- 4 x 15
Stiff Leg DL- 3 x 20
"Ask yourself this: if everyone else is training once per week, what are you doing that's so different that you would expect to get better results than anybody else? You might have good genetics, be tough enough and disciplined enough to train hard... but so are a lot of people." - BOSS
"I think I must be overtraining"... no, you're just a pussy - Machine
Hitting heavy squats and following that with either Centuries leg press or just adding a plate and doing sets of 10 with no rest except changing the weight. Then finishing the leg work out with stuff like extensions and curls.
So Centuries is 1 plate 10 reps, 2 plates 20 reps, 3 plates 30 reps and so on until you can't hit your number and THEN you go back down 6 plates 60 reps, 5 plates 50 reps, 4 plates 40 reps.
My other option was one plate 10 reps, add a plate and hop back in and do 10, add a plate per side and hop right back in do 10 etc again until you fail to hit 10 reps THEN you start stripping a plate and doing 10 until you are dying with one plate and hitting that final 10 reps. NO REST. Just change the weight and hop back in. Water must be earned at the end.
Heavy Squats
Some kind of insane leg press
Leg Ext.
Leg Curls
Done.
There's nothing like squatting weight no one else in the gym will touch then doing something in the leg press that certifies you as crazy after.
Strength doesn't come from physical capacity. It comes from indomitable will. -Gandhi
You cannot dream yourself into a character. You must hammer and forge yourself into one. -Thoreau

I can’t say it’s the most brutal, but I do remember feeling like trash one time more than other - I was doing this jay cutler routine off of BB.com(super high volume). It was leg day, and a friend had given me a bit of something I didn’t appreciate at the time - a tiny Tupperware container of OG rage. He didn’t give me a scoop, though, so I guesstimated one and went to work. I remember getting about 2/3 of the way through, and having to barf like a mofo between sets of leg presses. Shit was horrible.

HA! well under the influence of Evan of course on leg day. He had the idea to superset Squats 15 reps + to failure with walking lunges to failure. I got 2 sets in and actually started to blackout and fell on the floor, and then threw up in my mouth. John Cena was there that day and came over after I collapsed and talk to Evan to tell him how hard we were training. I never got to meet him because I was on the floor. DAMMIT
