That's interesting. My last lower body day had me doing heavy GMs, front SQ, RDL, and back extensions. Completely thrashed my posterior chain. I would think it was related but I did that workout on a Tuesday and didn't feel the pain until Sunday.
Mine took 1-2 weeks to set in and it flared up when I bent down to pick up my baby boy. I felt some initial irritation in training 1-2 weeks before when hitting GM's, than it disappeared. Evidently, the inflammation sits there and something will trigger it later.

Ok. I've let it sit and rest for a week now. Wanted to train the last two days but figured it'd be best to let it heal a bit longer. Didn't want to jump back into it too soon. I'll head back in there Monday and work up slowly. See what happens.

If it flares up again, find a sports chiropractor that does dry needling and e-stim work.

Because I'm a glutton for punishment, yesterday I went into the gym for the first time since the injury and dead lifted 500 pounds off blocks for a PR with extra posterior chain work and then went for a one and a half mile run. Feel okay as of now.

LOL! I like your style! I did the same thing, kept training.
Been almost two months since I've posted in my own thread, haha. So here's an update:
- Competing in a backyard meet on 11/26 at my home gym.
- Plan on going all-in, for PRs in the squat, dead, and total.
- I'm doing the same meat-prep as last time around and my numbers this time are better, so that "should" lead to better numbers on game day.
- This past week was "hell week" for prep. I had to get 10 total reps with my opener on the SQ/DL, no matter how many sets it took. Squats went 405 for 4/3/3 and the same for deads with 440, which is a HUGE leap from the last time I did this. I think the last prep, I had to do 430 for 10 and it took like 8 sets. The 405 for 4/3/3 is a 15lb PR. I had the same rep scheme last prep, but with 390. #boom.

Couple things from the meet:
- Squats felt phenomenal. This was a 10lb PR from my best ever squat back in May of this year. And I had more in the tank.
- Bench Press, for some reason, always feels incredibly heavy at this meet. Not sure why. Maybe the bar, maybe the fact that feet have to be flat on the floor and I'm used to being up on my toes, maybe its the quick turnaround from squats to bench. My average realm at "real meets" is 320-325. The two times I've done this type of meet, I failed at 300 three times and then hit 305 and failed at 315. Weird.
- I was going for a PR total, but once the bench fell apart, I went for it on deads. I wanted 520 for a 10lb PR. But I made a last minute change. 525 just "sounded" better to me. I was weary, b/c the rules were you had to have some sort of shoe for DLs and I had been going at it barefoot all training. Oh well. Gripped and ripped. I got 525 up, pretty handily, but about 1/4s before the "down" command, my right hand lost grip and I dropped it. I "pulled it", just didn't get the official call for it. So despite only officially getting a 485 pull, I was very pleased with my deads. Just have to figure out the bench.

Since the backyard meet, I picked up right where I left off; conjugate training. In my never-ending quest for knowledge, I have now found the ''right'' way to use bands for dynamic effort. And by ''right'', I mean using the correct type of band [mini, average, light] pending my 1RM, and how to adjust them on the racks for the adequate amount of tension. We will see how that goes.
Also, I hit a few PRs.
- Previous SSB bar 3RM was 295. Hit it for 335 the other day.
- Previous 3RM on bench was 275. Hit it for 285 the other day.
- Previous 1RM block pull was 495. Hit it for 530 the other day. And the 530 was put on the bar b/c I couldn't hold onto 525 at the meet. So I had a score to settle. I don't like to lose.
Adam Jr. comes any day now. As I was pulling into work last Wednesday night to start my 6pm-6am overnight shift, she calls me from the doctors office to tell me shes 2cm dilated and it ''could be any day/hour/minute'' at this point. I called my Sargent to fill him in and his response was, ''why are you still here?''. Been out on family leave since then. I get 6 weeks off so I'm hoping little dude comes soon so I have as many days off as I can with him. As of today's doctors appointment, he's still in there, healthy, active, and just waiting for his moment. Mom is doing well but ready to pop the little dude out at this point. They estimated he's a few ounces under 8lbs right now.

Hit a 405 paused squat double. I'd say it was a PR, but I won't. Can't remember the last time I did a heavy double, paused. So this is the first official ''number'', therefore I can't PR a non-existent number. I'll try to smash 410 next time around.

Those are the best PR's to hit! Now you have a reference point.
I am officially a father. On Friday, January 5, 2018, at 5:58pm, Adam Jr. was born at 8lbs, 13oz. Its been a wild ride these last two weeks. Fortunately, I get family leave with my job. I get a total of 8 weeks off. As of this Friday, I'll have 4 left. The wife is the same. So it helps big time in that area. The wife and I have already found a decent rhythm. The biggest benefit is the fact that both sets of our parents, all 4 of them are retired and live less than 2 miles from us. Additionally, for all 4, it is their first grandkid. So anyone who has a kid knows how beneficial that is. We haven't had a day all to ourselves yet b/c everyone keeps stopping by to see him, which is great for us b/c it allows us to get some things done.
Still training. With our time off, I am actually able to train more consistently now that I have in the last 4 years. Going to use that to my advantage. Looking at another meet at the end of February, another one of my gym's backyard meets. We will see. I will start prepping for it on Friday, but there are a lot of variables now. So I'll take it in stride.

Been training rather consistently over the last two months. I've been home with the wife for the last 7 weeks on Family Leave with our kid, so I'd been able to train at my leisure. Hit a few PRs, increased weight on shit, but my joints are hurting right now. Been pushing it pretty hard over the last several months. Competed in November but rested up a few days and then back at it hard and heavy. Gonna take a week or two to rest up completely and/or do some light bodybuilding stuff to the get the body back on track. Feeling good though

Went up to the U HQ last week and pulled a deadlift PR of 530lbs. You can find that in my IG. Felt great. Long, hard fight, but it went up. Taking a little time off now, at least from the grueling PL workouts. My shit hurts. And by shit, I mean my whole body. I feel that all my hard training culminated with that 530lb press. For years, I tried and tried to pull 500+ to no avail. And in the last 10 months or so, I've begun using 500lbs in training with block pulls and deficits and then I pulled 530. That is huge to me. With everything else hurting and me starting back to work tomorrow after 8 weeks off, I'm giving my body a break. I'll still be working out, but more of a BB'er style for the next month or so. Once fresh, its right back at it. Just need to ''coast'' for a minute.

Still here. Still training. Believe it or not, I've actually switched gears a bit to a more bodybuilding-esque training. Never thought I'd say that again! I'm still doing the power lifts. I'm actually doing the 5/3/1, hitting the main lifts for the required reps. Once the main work is done, I'm bodybuilding. Call it the 5/3/1 bodybuilding template. And I'm trying to drop a few, mainly as a mental test for me. I haven't done any ''real'' dieting in a few years, aside from cleaning it up here and there. Now, with a kid in tow and a full work schedule, why not add extra stressors to the list and diet? I like to do dumb shit, haha. We will see what happens. I've also joined a "globo-gym" that is about 2 miles from my house. Can't really do any legit PL'ing stuff there, but in a pinch, I can easily get in there for a solid BB type workout. Worse case scenario I do manage the minimal reps with the bench, squat or dead. Just truckin'.
