Attention ABC members, coordinators and Animal Nation at large,
We’re on a mission to end 2010 properly. In a year that saw a blowout National event at the Arnold, special ABCs in Detroit, the UK, Connecticut, Texas and at The Olympia as well as the madness that was the multiple ABCs in three days in Cali on the Animal Roadtrip, we have no choice but to go out with a bang.
Third Anniversary Philly ABC, Body World, Philadelphia, PA, 10/23/10
Representing a brand that is big on tradition, the Animal brotherhood assembled in our neck of the words on October 23rd for our Third Anniversary Animal Barbell Club gathering in the grimy, hardcore confines of BodyWorld Gym in South Philly. It is truly amazing that it was only three years ago that the movement began at that same obscure iron oasis above an autobody shop on Passyunk Ave. Much of the crew showed up including Enforcer, Big Al, C.Coronato, naturalguy, J-Dawg, Travis “The Truth” Rogers, Aggression, bondons, Harry “The Tank”, Joey D and Universal mentor and powerlifting guru Henri Skiba. Big ABC events have been popping up across the map and around the globe including ghost and the Detroit boys with a multi-state ABC and Kuclo holding a year-end bash at MetroFlex Plano. Beyond that events were held in the Louisville, Atlanta, Arkansas and as far away as the Philippines.
Erik Fankhouser Classic ABC, The Body Shop, Yorkville, OH, 11/21/10, 11am
Moving forward as the year winds down, we’re still gaining steam. This coming Sunday, I’ll be taking the show on the road, heading to The House’s house, The Body Shop in Yorkville, Ohio the night after representing Animal at The House’s own show, the NPC WV/Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix aka the Erik Fankhouser Classic. The House and I will be doing damage at the ABC along with other Animal Country FORVM heavy hitters like Big C, Deanna, The Anti-Asian and smoothballer. Apollon Gym, Edison, NJ, 12/4/10, 1pm
Locally we’re gearing up for a big year-ender at a noted hardcore haunt, Edison, New Jersey’s Apollon Gym. On December 4th, I’ll be in the building flanked by many of the FORVM freaks including Vinny G, C. Coronato, Big Al, Big Wides, Travis Rogers, Tek, Big D, naturalguy, Aggression, Shaun “The Giant Killer” Clarida and more. The fellas will be doing damage in the gym only to follow up by wrecking shop at Edison bodybuilding favorite Muscle Maker Grill for some serious postworkout grub. The early winter month action doesn’t stop there with Universal athlete Tony Searle bringing the Up North freaks out in Ottawa tomorrow as well as another event slated for a popular Animal Country dungeon--Cleveland’s Iron Asylum also on December 4th. December also promises strong ABC events scheduled for standout chapters in Toledo, Central Indiana and Seattle.
My cohort and co-chair C.Coronato weighed in heavily on the ABC movement…
“It’s great to see more and more chapters pick up as the years roll by, especially those hosting international events. Seeing guys rocking the Animal t-shirts, training, eating, and bullshitting, brings an real sense of family. It doesn’t matter where you live, what you do for a living, or what you look like. When you throw that shirt on, you’re family. Big ups to my boys out in the Philippines doing big things and having their ABC gatherings. Looking forward to a good winter into a solid spring with lots of ABCs, as usual. Keep grinding through the cold, fellas.”
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the coordinators and Animal Barbell Club advocates for their ardent and fevered support of our very simple and humble movement. We at Animal love the sport, love to train and love to live the lifestyle. The fact that we are able to share that passion with our ever-growing family is a true joy and privilege.
