60 my journey into the vast unknown

Turning 60 certainly does have its physical challenges. Especially when it comes to hoisting the old iron. They say muscle has memory and I'm really hoping that the guy who said that knew what he was talking about. Now I never used juice ( I don't even know if they refer to steroids as juice anymore) I managed to develop a pretty good physique without them, good enough to garner over 60 bodybuilding titles. Of course this was back in the 70's when the use performance enhancing agents were not that prevalent. Anyways I veered off the beaten path and raised a family and anyone who is a successful bodybuilder knows that a domestic lifestyle and bodybuilding sometimes puts a strain on a marriage. So I bailed. Fast forward 35 years I now gots lots a time on my hands and no family. So I really would like to give this lifting thing another shot not to compete but just bask in its warming glow! Let's resume the freakin' journey! Who cares if I'm an old fuck. I gotta believe 60 is the new 50 or I'm fucked!

Almond milk and animal ... A contradiction of terms?

Almond milk seems to do a prostate good! It almost sounds too effeminate to even be uttered here at the forum but recent studies have shown that dairy has a profound negative effect on the prostate gland. Imagine that all those years of drinking gallons of milk a day and now the pricks tell me it's going to mess with my prostate!

Eggs too? Do you believe this?

Current studies have indicated eating one egg a day increases your chances of fatal prostate cancer by 42%! Do what you will with this information. I'm hoping the people that conducted this study were smoking some wacky weed. I made a regular practice of ingesting as many as 36 whole eggs a day,as did many of us way back when. Do you believe this shit?

      No animal fat! Blasphemy!

Oh yeah I almost forgot no red meat. What's an aging muscle head to do?

Diet I followed when I won the Mr. Chicago back in the mid 70's mind you I won best chest, back and arms also "most muscular"

Consumed daily for six weeks 4-5 feedings a day and 1 protein drink

      2 1/2 pounds ground sirloin
      36 eggs

Done! 186lbs. @ 9% BF no cardio. Trained 6 days a week, each body part done twice a week. Calves and abs every workout.

I went on to win the trifecta that year also winning state and county titles as well.

These studies are often not controlled enough to conclude causation. They may find correlation, and 42% is high. But if we looked at say, only farmers, who eat eggs and bacon and milk daily, i wonder if farmers have a high frequency of prostate cancer.

      Howdy Gramps! I'm in.

Stop believing ANYTHING that is released from our government. They're now saying Salt is GOOD FOR YOU yet again! They're full of shit and are trying to socially engineer people to eat garbage foods loaded with Monstanto poisons that cause a wide array of endocrine disorders and cancers. It's part of their culling plan for the human race. Monsanto has their own Congressional Protection Act which prevents any suit filed by farmers or unions of farmers against them. THINK ABOUT THAT for a second!

YEP! I'm phuckin nuts and don't trust a single thing spouted from our government's sewer hole.

      *Caffeine induced rant over =)

      Throwing caution to the wind....

Recently I was told to lay off the "weights". I'm not quite sure how to deal with that. There idea of training is kind of entry level. I guess I'll back off a bit and maybe integrate some more machines and cable work, but we all know the life blood of building muscle begins and ends with iron.

First, my doctor has never been a big advocate of lifting heavy poundages. Modest resistance training is what he believes is most beneficial. As well as cardio. I have spinal issues. So he feels it may exacerbate the problem.

That might be valid, but no reason you can't rep out with moderate weights. But you already know that. At the gym the other day when Squating, I wear 2 shirts when squatting to not get tore up but I had to take the bigger shirt off to put on the smaller one on first and I got a glimpse in the mirror of where I'm at and I was kind of shocked - I looked pretty chiseled. I think there's something to be said at what ever age and to what ever extent we can, to look like a man of iron.

      The fire inside...

This shit rages inside of me! IT CONSUMES ME! In my mind I still see this young, determined kid who let nothing or no one stand in his way. Then i catch a glimpse of my reflection in the rear view mirror and I see this old guy with this white beard looking back at me. I say to that old prick in the mirror, "HEY! where's the kid"? "What did you do with the kid"? and i say to myself "That mother fucker beat feet a long time ago". But you know what that cocky little shit's fire still burns in this old belly! When it goes out, I'll know my time here will be done.
