      The quest continues…

Is it possible to satisfy our need?
Our obsessive need to train. A fire fueled solely
by an insatiable appetite to challenge ourselves every time
we set foot in the gym! That’s what’s so fucking frightening!
Dare to go where the “pretenders” stop short. The pushing of
almost unreasonable limits that we ourselves create.

      Get a life!

Crazy how training becomes such an integral part
of the serious lifter's existence. Show of hands,
how many of you when attending out of town
family gatherings, whether they be weddings,
funerals or the like, make certain your
accommodations are near by a well equipped place to train?
Or how about getting up before the crack of dawn
to get that session in without distractions or judgements?
If your response is "Yeah, what's the big deal"?
      CONGRADULATIONS!! YOU'RE IN!!

      Can't really explain it...

I'm sure you've all experienced it. That rush
      after an intense, demanding training
session where you absolutely crushed it!
That mix of relief and elation.
This doesn't apply to those who
go to the gym without bad intentions.
Getting fucking down right nasty with the
shit that can test your mettle and if you're
not up to the task, tear your sorry ass world
      to pieces. Tendon by tendon!
Not sure how to label it but It's what keeps the blood pumpin'!!

      Tunnel vision.

No, not the medical condition that actually affects your eyesight.
But the term that most accurately describes an iron junkies focus.
No peripheral distractions. In short, not taking your eyes off
the proverbial prize for one fucking second!
If you ain’t got it and you claim to be a dedicated iron freak
you probably aren’t real clear on what’s required to own the title.

      Who are you kidding?

Perception is reality. Nah. How about the jerk off
who projects the image of hardcore strictly for effect?
You know the fucking clown who parades there
dumb ass through the gym sporting the oversized hoodie,
the fucking noise reduction head phones and of course
      the enormous fucking gym bag.
Bottom line girls and boys you might be
able to convince the average dipshit but when
shit comes to shove the only one you're fooling is you.

      What does it take?

Persistence? Sure why not. Determination? Overused, but ok.
Powerful words used by some as motivational tools. I find them worthless.
Persistent half assed training for example. You can show
up every fucking day put yourself through a mediocre
excuse for what you perceive as a hardcore workout
and make yourself feel like you accomplished something
because of your PERSISTENCE. AHH, BITE ME!
      Determination. Are you fucking serious?
Every fucking loser uses this word to compensate for there lack
of work ethic. Nose to the fucking grindstone people. Enough of
the rah, rah bullshit! The end result will justify the effort!
No words need to be spoken! Actions still speak louder than words!

      Partial reps, partial development.

Form lends to it's own resistance. Neglecting proper form and range of motion in the attempt to lift a shitload of weight has somehow
      become closely associated with
hardcore training. If loading a freakin' leg press up and doing a few shitty reps is your idea of serious training then you're sadly
mistaken slick! Never confuse "Ego" lifting with serious training.
One is self serving stupidity, the other a true understanding of what it actually takes to own the moniker.

      Freaks R us!

This one goes out to those of us who do this
for no freakin’ reason other than the love of the iron!
It’s in our DNA! We, the committed, find the daily challenges
we impose on ourselves competition enough! We continue to test our limits
every time we enter the gym. Not just for an off season prep.
Huh. Off season? Yeah, right! What the fuck is that?

      Deep sense of accomplishment.

Just imagine, If only the endless hours “wasted”
on training would’ve been better spent perhaps,
learning a second language or maybe enriching our lives
through more intellectual pursuits like studying the origins
of wine countries. Yes and if your
aunt had balls she’d be your uncle! The truth of
the matter is the satisfaction a true iron junkie derives
when finally surpassing a personal best or goal justifies
every minute spent training and the thought of trading that
feeling for anything less is just not as gratifying!
      YOU GOTTA’ LOVE THIS SHIT!!

      Limits?

We the committed, self impose our limits.
We draw the line in the fucking sand!
It all boils down to how loud that little voice gets.
You know the one that tempts you to stretch those boundaries.
The one that keeps raising the question, "Is that all you fucking got"?
The average gym goer doesn't feel the
need to go these extremes, and rightly so.
Who, in there right fucking mind wants
      to over exert themselves?
Well that my fellow iron freaks is what
separates us from the rest of the heard.
      FUCK MEDIOCRITY!!

They told me there would be days like this.

You're going to discover, the longer you're at this,
the harder it's going to get. Especially doing it
the way "WE" do it. Psychologically it can fuck with you. The demands only become greater and greater. The never give up, never back down mentality that fuels us can also
end us. Here's where knowledge and experience come in to navigate you through to your next
level. Always revise your strategies when needed. But by no means use this as an excuse to take your pedal off the metal!

      Lunatic fringe.

Is it crazy to want something so bad you go to extremes?
To say we “workout” hardly describes what “WE” do.
Even using the word “Train” sounds fucking tame. Pushing ourselves
beyond reasonable means to reach hideous levels
of size and strength requires us to do some pretty nutty shit.
We, more times than not are left with no other options but to resort
to the aforementioned nutty shit! That is if your interested in reaching
      Iron freak status!

      Can anybody join?

To be considered for membership to this club
will require more than the want to belong.
The dues for this club are steep and most are
not willing to pay the cost. The dues mentioned
can not be paid in dollars, oh fucking no! Then every
jerk off could claim membership. The payment needed
here is the willingness to endure and overcome
      the most strenuous of challenges
that the membership to this club demands.
      STILL WANNA’ JOIN?

      Putting in your time.

365 days a year. 365 opportunities. Just how much are
we willing to invest of ourselves? Shit just doesn't happen overnight.
It takes incredible resolve, a take no prisoners attitude.
You show up, you leave no doubts and pray you get to do it
again the next day. This shit works on an accumulative effect.
Quality in, quality out. Day in, day out.

      Please, enlighten us.

Most people are under the impression that
having an addictive personality could be problematic.
Yet being passionate is a trait that is admired.
Weird shit right? Where the fuck does passion
      end and addiction begin?
      They’re kind of intertwined. No?
      Based on recent behavioral studies
      the recent findings indicate that
true aficionados of the iron would
      be considered obsessed,
      twisted fucks!
Tell me something I didn’t know!
      Embrace the madness!

      What's your point?

The body will achieve what the mind can conceive.

Yeah, the freakin' brain will do stupid shit like that.
You know, when its trying to persuade the rest of you
that those last few reps are quite do able when
in fact you were ready to lose your cookies five reps ago!
It's amazing that although the brain that really takes no part
in the physical aspect of the request, convinces the body of handling
the most challenging part of the request. I guess based on this,
if you’re willing to think big you’re gonna’ get BIG!!
