      Gotta git my mind right!

Too much of this back and forth bullshit! Commitment to consistency has always been the key for me in the past. I've allowed myself to become content with mediocre efforts. I've convinced myself that age plays a huge role in accepting weakness.

It’s always been a mental game. Get a strong start. Stay strong, and when it’s time to back off again that’s OK. Just take a purposeful break. It is easy to get stuck on the couch LOL. As far as age, it’s like anything else. If you think you can, you can. If you think you can’t, you can’t. If you think you’re old, you’re old. Same difference.

Can’t afford to lose my grip…

To do so would result in me falling back down the rabbit hole! Unfortunately time has become more of an issue at this stage of my life. So really I need to make every freakin’ day count. The margin for error has narrowed considerably! I’ve had to reinvent my idea of serious training to provide me with a sustainable method. It has to constantly evolve, if I expect to continue my quest.

      Strap up!

Your next days workout should start the night before. Visualize! Prepare yourself mentally.
Once you get to the gym, it’s freakin’ GO time! Your sets, your reps, your poundages, in your mind you’ve already
done this workout at least 10 times. Too much? Not if you want to achieve something special.

Everything is a mindfuck, it's how God tests us men to see how committed and focused we are. That same mentality applies to all aspects of life, how badly do you really want it?

Sometimes life gets in the way...

What a crock of shit!! Training was my life!! I made sure I conveniently scheduled the other obligations around my workouts. While preparing for the 81' nationals I worked 2 full time jobs and a part time weekend gig. How'd I pull it off you ask? I made sure one of those jobs was managing a gym. 'Nuff fucking said!

      TRYING yet I AM!

With the constant hell from my ex wife and her messing up when it comes to my kids, to troublesome individuals at work, to being constantly busy at work and with kids sports; you'd think I'd give up on training.

F*CK YOU NEVER! It is my outlet that really acts as my therapy; especially, how I train. I'm sure all of my neighbors are scared of me now but I already told them. When I'm lifting, you might hear some music from my one car garage or me yelling and going nuts, LOL! They were okay with it but who knows. I'm surrounded by uppity nosey people, they're good people but where I live the uppity nosey-ness is to be expected. F*ck them too, BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

      Distractions?

Learn to prioritize! Relationships, financial obligations,
      family commitments etc.
are somewhat necessary in achieving balance I get it.
For the non lifter this shouldn’t prove to be difficult.
      However, this might present
a wee bit of a problem for the insatiable iron addict.
Find the opportunity when it presents itself to squeeze in your training.
For a period of about 9 months
      I trained 2-3 times a day.
(Mind you each session lasted roughly 30-45 minutes each).
First session was before work at 5:30am calves /abs, second session was at 3:30pm
smaller parts, usually bicep, tricep or hamstring. Last session was reserved for the bigger
body parts done routinely at 9pm.

Get your head out of your ass...

Let's get busy and take this shit up a notch! If
your training has been set on cruise control for
the last few months then its time to energize and
revitalize! Change your split up, focus on bringing up lagging parts,
explore higher rep schemes, supersetting, trisetting, Hell, GIANT SETS!!
The whole idea here, is to make things a little more interesting and challenging.

      Seize the freakin’ day!!

If you’re not getting the results you want from your training,
you may need to take a long, hard look at your level of dedication.
Nobodies twisting your fucking arm to do this. It’s something you’ve
chosen to do. Don’t just put your time in, make every minute of that time you are
investing, count! Easier said than done, there’s a lot to be said for consistency.
Doing all the right things 100% of the time is what get’s it done!
Not doing that and expecting a different
outcome is just being fucking delusional!

      Gut check time!

Did you pay your dues today?
Or did you just show up and go through the motions? Cut the bullshit!! Are you one of these assholes who talks a big game but can't produce? If you ever have to ask yourself is it worth it,
then you've already answered the question.

      Fucking interlopers!

Any loved ones or “concerned” friends
ever want to discuss your mental status
      due to your obsessive behavior,
aka your constant working out? Most
can’t relate. Oft times it results in heated
arguments mainly because anyone not familiar
what we do finds it deeply disturbing. Bottom line
let no one try to fuck with your head!
You don’t have to be rude or indignant about shit
but let them know this is not a hobby but your passion.

      A labor of love...

There aren't many things I enjoy more
than hitting the iron. That may sound sad and depressing
to many but I can't imagine how things
      would've turned out without it.
My training has seen me through more difficult
times than I can count. It's been one of
the few things that have been a constant in my life.
I could rely on it when everything else was going to shit.

What are you prepared to do?

How far do you have to dig to get to the best out of you?
Do you find yourself making more and more
half assed excuses than usual, then wondering
      why your training sucks?
Shouldn't the pursuit of building a physique
capable of making Crom himself jealous
enough to get your ass to the gym?
      IF NOT, WHY NOT!
Each day of training should be seen as
another step closer to acquiring this end result.
Get it through your thick fuckin' skulls there's
only one way to get to the summit CLIMB, DAMMIT,
      CLIMB!

      Don’t look at me!

Do you on occasion, look to others for inspiration to train?
You know, the times where you begin stagnating and you
      start questioning your own methods.
If you are ever confronted with this dilemma,
and I think at some point you will.
Veering off your designated path could
potentially send you into a training"Black hole".
Trust your instincts and and remain confident.
If you seek out arrogant assholes with enormous egos
for advice or validation the feedback might be more
      detrimental than beneficial.

How much more can we take?

I will admit, as of late, my resolve has been tested.
I struggle at times dealing with people who have no idea what
the term gym etiquette means. I get it, I’m a freakin’ fossil!!
I know that I must adapt to my environment in order to do what
I enjoy most. Even if it means dealing with a
few shitheads every now and then. However, It’s hard for me to wrap my
head around what now passes for acceptable gym behavior. I’ll do
what’s necessary though, to not let ignorant, self absorbed assholes
      interfere with the process.
