It will help but you'll lose strength. Can't train/lift raw then throw equipment on and expect your Bench to be the same. It's one thing to get an overload and or extra sets in after you're Raw muscles are fatigued, know what I mean?
Sounds like you need some E-Stim and Dry-Needling from a good chiro. Tell me to crank it up and don't be a bitch, the pain fades quick and you'll be healed.
*You can also smash the area against a door frame with a lacrosse ball. Some stretching post-training and before bed will help loosen it up.
I agree with this 100% As someone who has dealt with shoulder issues several times caused by the flat barbell bench press, seeing a doctor and getting the appropriate xrays/mri helped me rehab my shoulders back to almost full strength.

What would be best would be to figure out why the shoulder is hurting and address that angle.
